Big Changes to RFL of Greater Shelby Township in 2027

After 20 years, Relay For Life of Greater Shelby Township is getting a new home in 2027!

From the Shelby Township website: Built in 2013, Chief Gene Shepherd Park is the newest addition to Shelby Township’s list of parks. Named in memory of the late Fire Chief Eugene Shepherd, the park has two sand volleyball courts, two tennis courts, bocce ball, horseshoes and a soccer field. Chief Gene Shepherd Park offers many options for those looking to get outdoors and have some fun. Visitors will also find a walking path that wraps around the park, as well as a firefighter themed playground and restrooms.
Pavillion visitors have access to 12 6-foot picnic tables, electricity, a nearby playground area, indoor restrooms, water in bathrooms only and a barbeque grill.
The event will take place Saturday May 15, 2027 from 3 pm to 10 pm so we will be able to once again light up the track with our luminaria.
April and Chris have planned an evening to walk the new track and take suggestions and ideas from anyone with an interest in our event. Join us Thursday September 10 at 6:30 to help us measure, plan, and get ready for our best event yet.
Not Too Early for Fundraisers
Bunco: Charlie’s Angels will have their very popular ladies only Bunco event on Thursday October 15th at Shelby Banquet (formerly known as Shelby Gardens). Click this link for the official flyer. All tickets are purchased in advance, and this event usually sells out!
Casino Road Trip Fundraiser: Saturday October 3rd Team Charlie’s Angels will be hosting an all-day bus trip to FireKeepers Casino in Battle Creek. This is only for those 21 and older and must be registered and paid in advance. Click here for the official flyer.

Attending meetings introduces you to your fellow Relayers and gets you up to speed on all your Relay needs.
Where: Shelby Township Activities Center – 14975 21 Mile Rd, Shelby Twp.
Who: Event Leadership Team (ELT) meets at at 5:30 to socialize with official meeting beginning at 6:00
Team Leads and Volunteers meet at 7:00 (come to the ELT meeting if they are interested)
