Rules for Relay: Team captains, it is your responsibility to make sure that they know and follow the three rules of Relay to keep us all safe, healthy, and happy:
- No Pets at Relay (certified service animals are welcome). Even if you have a sweet and well mannered pet, Relay for Life is not a good place for them. Everyone on your team needs to leave their pets home and it is up to you to tell them.
- No Wheels on the Track (except for wheelchairs, wagons, and strollers). This is a walking event. Scooters, skateboards, and bikes can be hazardous and should be left home. People riding bikes to the event should walk their bikes if they want to cross the track.
- No Smoking, Vaping, or Alcohol. Smoking is a known carcinogen and it is in direct opposition to the American Cancer Society mission. Vaping is also damaging and classified in the same category as tobacco. This is a family friendly event so consumption of alcohol is prohibited.
Little Caesars Fundraiser Open to Everyone:
We are officially selling Little Caesars Pizza Kits! The sale is on NOW through June 2nd. No money to collect, no orders to deliver! You will receive $6 per kit sold after the sale end that will be credited to your personal fundraising. Also, a good selling tip is that the shipping cost is the same for 2 kits as it is for one kit! What a great way to encourage people to buy 2! Happy selling!
Luminaria: You can still pick up Luminaria bags at the meeting May 16th. What a great way to remember all those who have battled cancer and are still battling it. This is also a great way to raise money for your team. Let me or April know if you need more bags.
Michigan Relay for Life Spring Challenge ends this Friday: Raise $250 between today and May 10 and earn a “Celebrate – Remember – Fight Back” light blue hooded long sleeve sun shirt. This is a perfect weight for summer and will help you Fight Back against the sun’s rays!
Survivor Coupon Book: As part of our gifts to survivors we will be handing out coupon books. If you would like to have a little treat or gift for survivors to redeem at the event, we will be making a list for Kim of Carolyn’s Quest to print and have available the day of the event. Volunteer hours update: We still have volunteer hours throughout the day on May 18. If you are interested, please go to Volunteer Hours at Sign up Genius to sign up. We have a variety of tasks in two and three hour increments. For those interested, the job of a Runner is not to race or be on the track. A runner’s job is to go to and from campsites delivering info or helping with miscellaneous tasks. If you have more questions, please text Chris at 586.306.9176 for more info.

Ketchup for Cancer is back. Orders due by Thursday May 9th and pick-up Thursday May 16th. Tomatoes, peppers, and herbs $4 each. 12″ Lettuce Bowls $17.50 each or 2 for $30. 10″ Hanging Baskets $25 each. Details on varieties of plants and prices here. Jazzercise Fundraiser Event is scheduled for Saturday May 11 at 9:45 am. Have fun at an outdoor dance party in their parking lot at 50701 Mound Rd. Shelby Township. Proceeds go to our event!
Casino Bus Trip brought to you by Charlie’s Angels on June 1, 2024 to Hollywood Casino in Toledo, OH. Bus loads at 7:45 am from Walmart parking lot located at 23 Mile and Shelby Parkway. 21 and older only and you must have a valid ID to enter the casino. Cost is $45 each and includes $10 free play and $10 food voucher. Contact Diana Humphries at purpledi@comcast.net to reserve a spot. You will be dropped off at the Walmart parking lot by 6:00 pm and there will be a stop for ice cream on the way home.
50/50 Raffle – You Sell the Tickets and Your Team’s Fundraising Gets Credit!
As of Sunday April 28, the 50/50 jackpot is at $420. The only way you will have a chance to win is if you buy a ticket! For every ticket sold, your fundraising or your team’s fundraising gets credit for $2. There is no limit to the number of tickets you can sell or the amount your team can earn! Though you need not be present to win, this is a great way to build awareness of our event and increase participation.
Each ticket costs $2 and the winner will be drawn on May 18 at our event at River Bends park at 6:30. One lucky person will take home the prize so buy/sell your tickets now. 2024 Meeting Schedule:
Attending meetings introduces you to your fellow Relayers and gets you up to speed on all your Relay needs. This next meeting is all about logistics and picking your campsite.
Where: Shelby Township Activities Center – 14975 21 Mile Rd, Shelby Twp.
Who: Everyone!
When: Thursday May16 6:00-7:30 – Last meeting before Relay! Bring any money you’ve collected and get all your questions answered. Open house style meeting so stay as long as you’d like!
Wrap Up Meeting: June 13 at Shelby Township Activities Center 7:00 pm. Details to follow!
