RFL of Greater Shelby Township 2024/2025
It is goodbye 2024 and hello 2025. Our 2024 Event Wrap Up and 2025 Event Kick Off meeting will take place Thursday September 26 from 7-8 pm at the Shelby Township Activities Center – 14975 21 Mile Rd, Shelby Twp.
Please come prepared with your success stories from the past year so we know what we should do again in the future. Let us know if you have any concerns so we can make adjustments for next year, and be prepared to share all your ideas!
The Relay for Life of Greater Shelby Township 2024 website will close on July 31 and the 2025 website will be open for business shortly after.
The 2025 Relay for Life of Greater Shelby Township will take place on Saturday May 17, 2025 at River Bends Park. We are going to switch it up with a Garage/Vintage Sale theme where we will encourage everyone to sell their gently used items as on-site fundraisers and will also sell spots to local vintage sellers who would like to take part in our event. You pair these with the Silent Auction and we will have a shoppers paradise on our hands! All we need is a clever name and/or tag line so put those thinking caps on and bring your best ideas September 26.
This year anyone who got sponsorships will have the certificates mailed to them to distribute to their generous donors. Please be sure to let them know just how much we all appreciate their support in the battle to end cancer as we know it.
On a more personal note, I want to thank you all for rallying around me during the weeks since my husband Jim died. In 2004 when he was first diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic thyroid cancer he was given 5-10 years to live. The fact that he made it 20 years with an excellent quality of life is nothing short of a miracle made possible by the efforts of the American Cancer Society and funded through Relay for Life. You are all my family and helped me through the darkest days of my life. What we do matters and makes a difference to people we know and people we will never meet. I can’t wait to see you all again in September and hug you all and thank you again. Chris
