Relay Rules – 3 Rules for a Safe and Happy Relay
As team captains it is your job to make sure your team members, survivors, and guests know about the three rules of Relay:
- No pets. Registered service animals allowed
- No wheels (bikes, skateboards, rollerblades) on the track (strollers, wagons, and wheelchairs are allowed)
- No smoking, vaping, or alcohol at Relay
There’s Always Time to Sign up More Survivors!
During this last month of preparation for Relay, each team should make it a goal to sign up one more survivor for our event. If you know a survivor (or are a survivor), call 1-800-277-2345 to sign up. Your survivor needs to tell the the person answering the phone that they are signing up for Relay for Life of Greater Shelby Township. The ACS operator at that number will make sure they will be signed up for a shirt, a chance to take a survivor lap, and have a lunch at Relay! You can also go to the event website to register a survivor: Relay for Life of Greater Shelby Township. Let’s build our survivor community!
There’s Still Time to Register a Team!
Want to start a team for Relay for Life of Greater Shelby Township 2023? There is still time to register a team and take part. Follow this link to get started: Relay for Life of Greater Shelby Township.
Time to Pick Your Campsite
We matched up a lot of our teams with campsites for our May 20 event. If you are a team captain who has not signed up for a campsite, please contact Christine Fecteau at relayneighborhood@gmail.com to take care of that. If you are a team captain who does not need a campsite, please let Christine know that too. If you don’t reach out and reserve a site, you may not be able to find one the day of the event.

What to do with your donations
If you have donations you would like to have deposited and credited to your team, you have two options. First you can download the ACS FUNdraising app from the app store and make electronic deposits there. You can deposit checks (made out to the American Cancer Society) or from debit cards using your camera in the app. This is super easy, fast, and secure. If you have cash you can deposit it to your checking account and write your own personal check (made out to the American Cancer Society) and deposit it via the app as well. Second, you can bring your cash or checks to the team leader meeting on May 18 (details below). We will also have designated “Registration” times at our event on May 20 and you can drop off cash and checks then also.
We Still Have Some Volunteer Hours!
If you or someone you know needs volunteer hours for NHS or other church or civic groups, we are still looking for people to help us out the day of the event.
If you are interested, email Christine at relayneighborhood@gmail.com to get on the list to claim your hours!
