No Pets at Relay Reminder

Relay for Life of Greater Shelby Township is not a pet friendly event. Captains are responsible for telling everyone they invite to the event that we are not able to accommodate pets due to the way the event is insured by the American Cancer Society. Service animals are welcomed but may not walk the track. Please help us get the word out to keep our event safe for our human and canine friends!

More Survivors Needed!

If you know a survivor (or are a survivor), call 1-800-277-2345 to sign up with our event.  Tell them you are signing up for Relay for Life of Greater Shelby Township and you’ll be signed up for a shirt, a chance to take a survivor lap, and have a lunch at Relay! You can also go to the event website to register a survivor: Relay for Life of Greater Shelby Township. Let’s build our survivor community!

American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACSCAN) Needs You Now!

The American Cancer Society CANCER ACTION NETWORK is the advocacy arm of the American Cancer Society and for just a $10.00 donation you can become a member and keep up on all of the legislative happenings in our state and federally that impact cancer patients and their families.

This is a grassroots driven movement and every $10.00 membership helps fund the mission!

Our relay event is just 10 MEMBERS away from being an official CANCER ACTION NETWORK event! Here is the link you can use to sign up right now: https://acscan.donordrive.com/campaign/Relay-for-Life-of-Greater-Shelby-Township-ACSCAN-MEMBERSHIP

What to do with your donations

If you have donations you would like to have deposited and credited to your team, you have two options. First you can download the ACS FUNdraising app from the app store and make electronic deposits there. You can deposit checks (made out to the American Cancer Society) or from debit cards using your camera in the app. This is super easy, fast, and secure. If you have cash you can deposit it to your checking account and write your own personal check (made out to the American Cancer Society) and deposit it via the app as well. Second, you can bring your cash or checks to the team leader meetings (April 20 and May 18 details below). We will also have designated “Registration” times at our event on May 20 and you can drop off cash and checks then also.

We Still Have Some Volunteer Hours!

If you or someone you know needs volunteer hours for NHS or other church or civic groups, we are still looking for people to help us out the day of the event.
5-6 volunteers for Survivor luncheon (2 hours – 11:30 to 1:30)
8-9 volunteers for Silent Auction (2 hours – 4:15 to 6:15)
6-8 volunteers for parking lot duty (2 hours – various times)
2-4 volunteers for the info tent (afternoon-evening)
If you are interested, email Christine at relayneighborhood@gmail.com to get on the list to claim your hours!

Theme Laps, and Donation Prizes

Our wonderful, fun team of high school volunteers are bringing back theme laps this year. There will be an assortment of competitions and games between 4:00 and 6:00 to keep everyone on the track and energized! We will also be awarding donation prizes to the teams who win our themed lap competitions. If your team competes/participates and are deemed the winner, your team will get $100 toward their team’s fundraising efforts. We are planning on up to 10 themed laps, so these donations will add up fast! We are also working to get other prizes for the runners up too, so stand by for more details.
